The ingredients are also very common ones which you already might have in your kitchen.
You will need a little time to prepare the Stromboli but once you have made it, it will not take much time to cook it. To make the dough of an average sized Stromboli, you are going to need 1 tsp active dry yeast, ¾ cup warm water, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp salt, 3 cups flour and ½ tbsp olive oil. You are going to need 6 slices provolone cheese, 1/3 lb. salami, ½ cup banana pepper slices, 1 tsp Italian seasoning blend and 2 tbsp olive oil to make the filling for the Stromboli. You will need to start with combining water, sugar and yeast together until they are dissolved and then let the mixture sit for 5 minutes. Add the olive oil and salt after 5 minutes and then add this mixture to one cup of flour in a large bowl followed by stirring it until smooth. Keep adding the flour and when you can stir it with a spoon anymore, place the dough on floured flat surface and knead it for 5 minutes. Add more flours if needed and make it a soft but not sticky dough. Make the dough into a ball and cover it with plastic by keeping it in the bowl which will make it rise and you have to keep it aside for 1-1.5 hours. When the dough got into the double of its previous size, place it on a floured surface again and then pat it into a rough rectangular shape by stretching and coaxing it. Stretch it into a 12/18 inch rectangle and use a rolling pin if necessary. Place the toppings of your choice over the dough and then roll it to make it 18 inch log. Place it on a baking sheet and brush with the olive oil. Sprinkle generous amount of seasonings over the top and let it rise for another hour. Now enter the dough log into preheated oven to 400 degrees F. Bake the Stromboli for 25 minutes or until it becomes golden brown. Let it cool and then slice it into 12 pieces and enjoy with your favorite sauce!
