To make a batch of 20 kiss cookies, you are going to need 2/3 cup softened unsalted butter, ½ cup sugar, ¼ tsp baking soda, ¼ cup unsweetened dark cocoa powder, 1 egg, 1/8 tsp salt, 1 tsp vanilla, ¾ cup sprinkles of chocolate or multicolor, 1-1/4 cups flours and 20 unwrapped milk chocolate kisses.
Start with preheating your oven to 365 degrees and then line two cookie sheets with parchment paper. Get a large bowl in which you have to beat butter on medium-high speed for 30 seconds followed by adding sugar, cocoa powder, salt and baking soda.
Beat until everything gets combined and then scrap the sides of the bowl occasionally. Beat the egg and vanilla until combined followed by adding and beating the flour. The dough will get a ball-rolling consistency but if it’s not then you can chill it in the fridge for a while.
When the dough is ready to handle, roll the dough into 1 inch balls and then roll balls in sprinkles to coat. Now place the balls 2 inches apart on the lined cookie sheets and use your thumb to make and indentation in the center of each cookie.
Now you have to bake these cooking for 7 to 8 minutes or until the edges are firm and then take out the cookie sheet to immediately press a chocolate kiss into each cookies center. Transfer the wire rack to let them cool.
You can add more sprinkles or chocolate drizzled on top of the kiss cookies when they are baked. But adding the sprinkles before baking them will give you the best result. You can make different flavored cookies such as mint or strawberries and add the required flavored chocolate to go with them.
You can store these kiss cookies in an airtight container and store them for a while. But when you are going to store them, be careful about the chocolate which might get moist so it would be better to finish them when you make.
